Well done, Pixta!

If you wonder what Pixta is, it is a stock photo agency, based in Japan.

Unfortunately I /almost/ never license my photos through their services, but I have to admit, they are one unique agency.

I really like them and I just got a very interesting email from them, they still count me as an active contributor, although I am actually not quite that. :))

Notice Regarding the Discontinuation of Handling AI-Generated Image and Footage

We would like to inform you, the Contributor Members, that we have decided to discontinue the acceptance and sale of AI-generated content (hereinafter referred to as "AI-generated content") on our PIXTA service.

Up until now, PIXTA has respected the potential of AI technology as a new form of expression and has handled AI-generated content with setting the guidelines for the Contributor Members to abide by. However, with the wide spread of AI tools capable of generating images and footage, more and more people have been uploading large amounts of AI-generated content in a short period of time, while at the same time, it has been difficult for us to accommodate the needs of our users for AI-generated content or match them with what our users are looking for in our service.

In response to this situation, we have carefully re-analyzed what kind of content is in demand from our users, and currently, there is a greater demand than ever for content shot, drawn and produced by our Contributor Members themselves, rather than content generated by AI. Furthermore, considering that the cost needed to maintain the AI-generated content is much increasing and that it would force us to raise the sales prices of each piece of the content, we have decided to discontinue handling AI-generated content.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude once again to all the Contributor Members who have provided new perspectives and possibilities to our marketplace through the creation and provision of AI-generated content.

Considering the widespread use of AI technology in the creative scenes these days, we believe that production without use of AI is impossible. Therefore, we have newly clarified the scope of AI processing that may be accepted as the contents in our marketplace, and then, will stop accepting AI-generated content such as those generated solely through prompts, so-called image-to-image AI-generated content, and other works processed in a manner that falls under the scope of "not accepted for sale or provision" as outlined in our new guidelines. For more details, please refer to the new guidelines (https://www.pixtastock.com/blog/12807-2).

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or burden this decision may cause to our Contributor Members.
We don’t mean to reject any creative possibilities using AI.
While respecting your creative activities, we have reached the above conclusion after considering market trends or market conditions, cost balance and other respects as we strive to co-exist with AI technology in our service. We sincerely ask for your kind understanding.

  • Schedule when the handling of AI-generated content is terminated:
End of acceptance of new AI-generated content: Monday, April 20, 2026
Discontinuation of sales of currently available AI-generated content on PIXTA: Friday, May 22, 2026
*At the discontinuation, all the content uploaded with the "AI checkbox" checked, and those with indications as "AI-generated" will be deleted.

Due to change in our content review policy in accordance with the discontinuation of AI-generated content, we understand that the Contributor Members may need to change the methods you use to process your works to be uploaded to PIXTA. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Well done, Pixta!

Is all I am going to comment at this point.

Now, let me add a beautiful photo so it's not just text here :)))

Taken at Meteora, Greece. I've entered this particular monastery after taking this photo, and it wasn't easy climbing up there, and probably that was exactly the point with it ;)

Good decision! I don't know how reliable the AI recognition is; it's only moderately accurate for text. But: it could be a reason to choose this particular platform.

Their reasoning is spot on - there are already too many services, many free ones too, that offer image generation, so no need to try to sell something that will loose its value with time and is most certainly increasing rapidly their server costs ;)

Too late. Enterprising people have already made a lot of money with the hundreds of thousands of generated photos that they have uploaded to stock agencies, I have seen many of them already. They have made a fortune off people's stupidity.

currently, there is a greater demand than ever for content shot, drawn and produced by our Contributor Members themselves

I wondered if that time would ever return, a time when what was created by man, with all its potential imperfections, would be more important than what was created by machine, or if we would continue to sink further and further as humanity.
Now I wonder what all these sellers of AI-generated "framed paintings" on Etsy, or AI-written books on Amazon, will do. Will they prosecute these people, will they take their money for immoral money-making, for copyright infringement? I'm waiting for this issue to finally be clarified once and for all. 🤔
