First girly bar in my neighborhood already torn down

in #vietnam2 days ago

I don't really understand that motivation behind the people that make these "girly bars" here in Da Nang. There isn't much of a market for them because I believe that most people that want that sort of thing are very aware of where Thailand is and they do not come to Vietnam for this sort of thing.

Nevertheless, there was a project that popped up out of nowhere and they constructed a building, poorly and quickly, that eventually became the first girly bar in our neighborhood.

Below is the picture of the bar just before it was completed a little over a month ago.

The built this so rapidly that it kind of just happened overnight. I originally was commenting about it because I was stating how the graffiti was only on the walls behind it because the "courteous taggers" were aware that a new build was going up and therefore the area was "free game" for that sort of thing without anyone getting in trouble.

The build was done so quickly and with such poor materials, as you can tell by the few pictures.

I never took a photo of the completed structure because while it is rare for this to happen, those sorts of places get quite angry if anyone photographs it because prostitution is highly illegal in Vietnam even though everyone already knows it exists.

This building had very few customers and I know this because I walk past it on my walk home from almost anywhere that I go to on a nightly basis.

The other night I was walking home and heard it before I saw it, but not only did the girly bar go out of business but they were tearing the entire structure down to the ground, eliminating every piece of metal and every brick that was involved in the building process.

I have no idea what actually went down here, but whoever is in charge of this demo was adamant about getting every little thing that was there before out of there and they just destroyed all of it.

Within 12 hours or so all of the structure was completely destroyed and removed and unlike other such demo operations I have seen in the past, there didn't seem to be any effort put towards preserving any of it or even recycling any of the materials used.

The bad news here is that while I do not know what really happened here, the likely future is that someone is going to build something substantially larger in the same place. If the trend of the neighborhood continues it will likely be a 5-story condo building of sorts because that is what everything is these days.

I guess I don't really care but it would be nice if we could have an end to the construction in the neighborhood at some point. As it is now, nothing has been done after quickly removing the building. I just wonder if the owner of the girly bar had any idea this was going to happen or if they just turned up one day to find that the building was gone. Don't need the keys anymore because there are no doors, or walls, or ceilings!
