AGUIRRE

Aguirre is a tiny village, in fact, it consists of little more than a dozen intertwined streets surrounded by farmland. Located about seven kilometers northwest of Montalbán and part of the same municipality, Aguirre experienced such rapid economic growth at the end of the 20th century that state entities considered its separation from Montalbán and its establishment as an autonomous municipality. However, the arrival of "hard times" at the beginning of this century, characterized by constant economic and social crises, brought this positive trend to an end and plunged this small village into a spiral of decline that continues to this day...
