The Diary game: My first day at work(14/06/2026

INTRODUCTION:

Good morning Steemians, welcome to my Diary Game entry for today. My name is Joshua and today was a big one for me — it was my very first day at work. I won’t lie, I was nervous from the night before. I kept checking my uniform, ironing my khaki shirt twice, and setting my alarm for 5:30 AM because I didn’t want to be late on day one.

Waking up this morning felt different. Usually I’m dragging myself out of bed for lectures or hustling for small gigs, but today I had to look like a real worker. I put on my khaki shirt, this bright yellow safety vest, and my black trousers. Standing in front of the mirror, I looked at myself and said “Joshua, this is the beginning.” My heart was beating fast but I also felt proud — first salary loading, God willing.

I left the house early and took ₦200 keke to the site. The sun was already hot, but I kept adjusting my vest because I didn’t want to look rough in front of my new boss. When I got there, I saw other workers already moving, carrying tools, shouting instructions. For a second I felt small, like “wetin I dey do for here?” But then I remembered everybody starts somewhere.
