Play ball
Afternoon everyone…..
So I’m going to make an effort to try and catch up with things I’d like to share with you all.
Last Saturday we went to a New York Mets baseball game. They were playing the Florida Marlins. Both teams are not doing very well this year. Flipping back and forth with who is the worst team in the division.
The reason I wanted to go was, I haven’t been to the new Citi Field yet. I’ve seen over a hundred games at the old Shea Stadium growing up. The company my father worked for had many seats there and also had a luxury box there as well. So I was fortunate to not only see many games, but they also had company promotion nights where we got to meet numerous players as well.
We did not know when we bought the tickets that it was also an introduction night for two former Mets. Both Lee Mazzilli and Bobby Valentine were be honored and inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame.
The ceremony was scheduled for 3:30 and the game was scheduled at 4:05.
Well…..
Bobby Valentine wouldn’t shut up and was up there blabbing for twenty seven minutes by himself. Lee Mazzilli was a normal speech about six or seven minutes.
The game starts thirty minutes late because of the ceremony.
Both teams had rookies as starting pitchers, so we had no idea what to expect. The Marlins started Tyler Phillips and the Mets started Christian Scott.
The Mets took a three to nothing lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. The kid Christian Scott pitched a gem for a rookie. He pitched a solid five innings striking out eight batters. That’s pretty solid. He did allow one run, which was the Marlins only scoring of the game.
The Mets hit two home-runs in the game as well as putting up a total of six runs for the game.
It was an enjoyable game and I really enjoyed the new stadium. It has a lot of character to it, and some cool architecture as well.
Here are some photos…
