Visit to the Fugaku Wind Cave

in #photography18 days ago

Fagku Win Cave in Japan is located right at the base of MountFuji. It is said that there are almost 80 caves around Mount Fuji. The Fugaku wind cave was formed by lava eruption from Mount Fuji over 1200 years ago. The walls are all black formed of Lava; water keeps dripping from the ceiling. There are some Ice pillars in the cave. It is called the Wind cave because cold air flows out inside this cave from deep underground all through the year, which also keeps the ice as is.

Locals used these caves in past for centuries to store silkworm eggs and food. They were used as refrigerators in the olden times. The floor is wet all the time due to water dripping, so one needs to be careful while navigating the caves. It is a quick trip in 15 minutes you can finish visiting the cave. Some points in the cave are very low and you need to bend down and walk through. If anyone has breathing or cramped up space issues, then it is not advisable to visit.

Here are some pictures of the Fugaku Wind Cave.

The cave is located in the forest area, in this area itself there are other caves also. One can do just a day trip to all of these caves. Forme visiting one was enough.
