Beautiful Macaw at the Zoo

I love colorful birds, and probably one of the most colorful birds are the Macaws or Aras. These South American birds mostly live in Brazil but because of their beautiful colors you are able to see them in Zoos all over the world. When I started taking pictures of animals, I first did several pictures of birds and other animals at Zoos. But this kind of photography soon lost my attention and I shifted more and more to wildlife photography. In my opinion this is a little bit more exciting because it is a little bit more like hunting. Hunting for a great picture. But still I have to admit that it is a lot easier to take some pictures at Zoos and also you don't need so much patience to find a bird.

You just need to go there maybe wait a little till the bird is in the right position and then shoot your camera. For beginners and learners it is a good thing to learn the correct settings of the camera and how to frame pictures. But usually after a few trips to the Zoo it looses it's magic because it is always the same.

Of course there is a little bit of variation of the different light. Animals might sit different or do something funny but compared to the feeling of success on a wildlife trip it is not the same - at least for me.
