Trying out Sake drink
On our very first day we reached Tokyo, and settled in our hotel in the Shinjuku area, we were offered a free drink coupon, 1 per person. We were 3 of us so got 3 coupons. We could use this coupon at their bar for 1 free drink. It was our first day and were tired because it was a night flight for us, so the day was kept light. We visited the Art Aquarium Museum and Shibuya crossing on this day and returned back to the hotel by 8. Thought it was the right day to use the coupons.
At the bar I was checking with the bartender for their local drinks, as I wanted to try out something local and experience it. The bartender suggested I try out Sake. It's their national alcoholic drink; it is made from fermented rice. Some people call it the Japanese Wine, though it is not wine exactly. It is closer to wine because of the way it is made. Wine has only one fermentation process, whereas sake has multiple fermentation process, so while one may say it is like wine but it is not.
It has a very different flavor, which comes closer to Vodka, whatever it is, I really liked it. Can be had both warm or chilled. I always prefer it warm, so called for one. I thought one drink means it would be served in a glass, but no, it was served in one small bottle. There were almost 3 glass servings for me from it. I enjoyed, it was not very strong and yet it had a nice effect. It gave a little tipsiness, which felt good.
I liked the flavor of it, later on during the trip I also tried out some other local drinks but then from all the best I like is Sake, most of the times then I would order Sake only if I had to.
