Group project breakdown

Last semester I was put in charge of a small project team and it turned messy fast because everyone worked at their own pace and ignored updates. I learned that just telling people what to do doesn't work when there is no shared tracking or visibility. I'm now looking for ways to successfully lead team members so tasks don't slip and motivation stays consistent.

Had a very similar headache in my final year project, people doing their own version of the same task and me only finding out after deadlines slipped. What fixed it wasn’t more reminders but a simple shared tracker where every task had a name, status, and next update date so nothing stayed invisible. I also learned from reading about structured coordination approaches in this piece mining sector mention that consistency and visibility matter more than pressure. After that I stopped chasing people and started managing flow, which reduced half the chaos fast.
