Here are some key tips for obtaining a bountiful harvest from a guava tree:

  1. Pruning is Paramount

Guava fruits always develop on new branches. Therefore, it is essential to perform light pruning of the tree twice a year (in February and August). Remove dry and diseased twigs to allow sunlight to penetrate the inner parts of the tree. This will stimulate the sprouting of new shoots and increase the fruit yield.

  1. Fertilization and Nutrition

The tree requires a substantial dose of nutrients prior to the fruiting season.

Farmyard Manure: Apply 10–15 kg of well-rotted cow dung manure or vermicompost in a circular trench dug at a slight distance from the base of the tree trunk.

Potash and Phosphorus: Use a small amount of potash and bone meal to enhance the size and sweetness of the fruits.

  1. Proper Irrigation Techniques

When the tree is in bloom, slightly reduce the amount of water provided to prevent the flowers from dropping off. However, as soon as the fruits begin to form, resume regular watering. The soil should remain moist, but waterlogging must be strictly avoided.
