Hero of the Tomato Patch.
Hero of the Tomato Patch.
Nothing foreshadowed the heroic saga that was about to unfold when I opened my sketchbook to continue working on a somewhat mundane attempt to create the texture of the tomato plant leaves, which I decided to depict using graphite pencils on a white sheet of paper.
The beginning had been made; all that remained was a responsible approach to the work ahead.
At this stage, the work was completed last time.
Among the several innovations to the drawing, I decided to add tomato flowers.
You know that tomato plants can simultaneously have ripe fruit and new flower buds.
But, having sketched the flowers, I began to wonder what would become the main character of my drawing... the tomato? Flowers?
Well, yes, in the fairy tale about Cipollino, there was an evil character named Senor Tomato, and in the movie Pulp Fiction, we heard a joke about a family of tomatoes trying to cross the highway. I think the joke's hero was named Ketchup.
Based on this tomato, hypothetically, it could become the subject of a drawing, or maybe even a flower?
But no, the true hero of a tomato patch might be someone who put a lot of work into it, for example, the gardener, or... or the tiny bumblebee that helps pollinate the tomato flowers, and without its bees, there would be no fruit.
I don't know if it will be the only hero of the tomato patch, or if someone else will appear.
Well, now that we've decided on the hero, we can work on the texture of the tomato omelettes.
On the one hand, I wouldn't be against a clear plan for working on a drawing, but on the other hand, I like that drawing is unpredictable, like life; you never know what's going to happen next.
