SLC31-W2 | The Curious Explorer : Offbeat Landmarks
What kind of Offbeat Landmarks have you visited? Briefly introduce yourself.
I visited the Daktarkhana Math Temple yesterday afternoon. It is located in the Palichada area of Rangpur district headquarters in Bangladesh. It is a very old temple. All the activities of Hindu religion were carried out in this temple several hundred years ago.Especially when there were kings in our country, these temples were known through them. But nowadays they are completely idle. This old temple in the doctor's field is a silent witness to time. This dilapidated structure standing in the heart of rural Bengal is not just a religious structure, but a living memory of a lost history.

Although this small temple made of brick is no longer used as a place of worship, every crack, every broken part of it seems to tell a story of the past. This temple is quite old and several trees have grown on the temple and the trees have grown quite big. The beauty of the temple has increased a lot because of the trees.
How were the activities, services and facilities at this place? (With pictures + prices, videos)
The first thing you will notice when you enter the temple grounds is the beautiful environment. This temple is located in the midst of a very green society and nature. All the trees that are in the temple grounds are beautiful and bright.Well, the temple looks much more beautiful because everyone is planting trees next to you. Hey, even though ours is many years old, it is still as good as before, only the activities are not working. However, there is no activity going on in this temple now. Even though this temple was built a long time ago, no items have fallen down till now.

The space is also very limited in terms of facilities. There are no specific benches to sit on, toilets, food stalls or security arrangements. Being an open field, the natural environment is the main attraction here. However, this simplicity and unchanged condition creates a different beauty for many. All in all, it is not a tourist spot with modern amenities, but rather an offbeat, quiet, and historic place where the real attraction is the silence, nature, and a touch of the past.
What did you learn about the history of that place?
I can learn and understand many things from this temple. Especially from this temple I can learn that the work of any type of structure built before was very beautiful, which can be understood only by looking at such ancient structures. And this temple is estimated to be more than a hundred years old. Yet till now the temple is still standing beautifully. And it is understood that every structure of ancient times was worked very beautifully, as a result it is still in perfect condition till now.And just by looking at this terracotta plaque, it is clear that the walls of this temple will remain intact for almost a hundred years to come.

Locals say that this place was once very lively. But with the passage of time, the population has moved away and religious practices have also decreased, resulting in the temple losing its importance. However, it is still a familiar symbol to the people of the area, which creates a connection with their past. All in all, the lesson to be learned from this temple is that history is not always confined to the pages of books. Sometimes, in such silent, unknown places, stories of a time are hidden, which remind us of the changes in our culture, religious life and rural society.
Share your experiences of that place as a Curious Explorer.
According to my experience, may these evils continue to exist on the soil of Bengal for thousands of years and may our people of Bengal learn something from seeing these old temples. This will allow our people of Bengal to learn and know many things. One of the things I have learned from this temple is that the ancient traditions have survived beautifully in our Bengali soil till now.And these temples are capable of surviving for thousands of years. Because the government of our country has preserved them till now. For that I thank the government very much.

When I approached the temple and looked closely at the broken walls and tree roots, it seemed as if nature and history had merged together. Looking at the roots that had penetrated the gaps between the bricks, it seemed that time had not only destroyed it, but had also created a new beauty here. Every crack in the wall seemed to hide some story, which only required a little imagination to hear.I had the opportunity to talk to some locals. They were saying that once upon a time, people used to come here, worship was done, the place was quite bustling. Now, nothing like that happens anymore, but a kind of respect for the place still remains. Hearing these words, it seemed that the place is not just made of bricks and stones it is also a part of people's memories.
