A Glimpse of Paradise I Call Home

We the people of Kashmir are actually among the luckiest people on this planet to live in such a place where others dream of staying for just a few hours or days, but we live here for a lifetime. It is one of the most beautiful pieces of land on Earth. What makes it even more special is that it never becomes monotonous nature and the Almighty have blessed us with four distinct seasons, each carrying its own unique charm.

Earlier, winters used to be long and harsh, lasting for months, making life quite difficult. Yet even those cold days feel like a blessing, as the white blanket of snow covering everything creates a mesmerizing and eye-catching scene. These days, as we move past spring and approach summer, the beauty around us feels even more alive. Spring, in particular, brings with it a sense of life, freshness, and hope for renewal, making it one of the most delightful seasons to experience here.

Living in a rural area adds even more to this blessing. There is more space, more openness, and a closer connection to nature. Just in front of my house, there is a small hill that I often climb. From there, I can not only see my village but also the surrounding areas, and even the distant mountains that seem to embrace the valley.

A few days ago, while I was spraying pesticides on apple trees in an orchard located on the higher lands of the village, I came across a view so captivating that I had to pause. The scenery was so striking and beautiful that I couldn’t move ahead without capturing a few photographs.

I have a habit of taking photographs whenever I come across such beautiful scenes. It has become a part of who I am—to pause, observe, and capture these moments so they can stay with me forever. These photographs are not just images; they are memories, pieces of time that I can revisit whenever I wish.

Someday, when I sit with my people, I will be able to show them how our village once looked—how pure, vibrant, and full of life it was. These pictures will speak of the beauty we lived in and the blessings we often take for granted.

I truly hope that we all learn to take care of our mother Earth with the importance she deserves. She nurtures us, loves us, and constantly presents us with scenes that leave us mesmerized. I feel a deep connection with nature, and I sincerely hope that, in my own way, I will be able to contribute towards healing this Earth from the harm humans have caused.
