SLC32-W1 || Real Life Problem Solving Challenge: Save Electricity At Home
What are two electrical appliances in your home that use a lot of electricity? Explain with original pictures.
In my home, the two electrical appliances that use the most electricity are the air conditioner and the refrigerator.
These two electrical appliances consume a significant amount of electricity, especially the air conditioner, which we don't use often. As a result, we use a standing fan more frequently due to the high electricity consumption.
This air-conditioner is a good air-conditioned and it is very powerful in a way that it consumes a lot of electricity.
The refrigerator consumes a lot of electricity and it doesn't switch off when the current is low and despite all of this we are still using it with a stabiliser.
Sometimes when my parents notice that our meter subscription is running low we don't use any of the electrical appliances we only make use of the standing fan.
What two methods do you use to reduce electricity consumption? Show at least one practical method with a selfie.
The two methods that I do use to reduce electricity consumption are:
- Switching off bulbs
- Switching off electrical appliances that're not in use.
Switching off bulbs: bulbs are meant to be switched on at night and not during the day, so I turn off all high-voltage bulbs so they wouldn't consume electricity. Doing this practically has really helped me to reduce electricity consumption.
Switching off electrical appliances that are not in use: The moment that I am done using any electrical appliances immediately switch them off so I wouldn't leave them on and go out. Like once the items inside the refrigerator are cold I do switch off the refrigerator.
Have the two methods you use to reduce electricity consumption resulted in a reduction in your electricity bill or not? Explain
Yes, the two methods that I use to reduce electricity consumption have resulted in a reduction in the electricity bill. Before I came home my parents were spending a lot on prepaid meter subscription simply because they often leave all the bulbs on even during the daytime and they always allow other electrical appliances to be on even when they're not making use of them.
But as I returned home, I started applying and practicing the two methods that I had mentioned earlier. Since I started practicing the methods my dad doesn't spend much money on prepaid metre subscription again which he is very happy about.
What is the easiest habit for you to save electricity?
The easiest habit for me to save electricity is keeping everything off when I am not at home and unplugging all electrical appliances from the socket to avoid draining electricity. This is the easiest habit that I often do to save electricity.
What advice would you give to others to save electricity so that they can reduce their electricity bill and save money?
My advice to others to save electricity so that they can reduce their electricity bill and save money is for them to do the following:
Turn off all electrical appliances after usage and when you're going out.
Don't use more than two electrical appliances at the same time.
Switch off your bulbs during the daytime.
Minimise the use of high electrical appliances at home.

This is a beautiful post, the crafting was majestic and the information was educational. Leaving bulbs and appliances on has been a thing, especially when we are given estimated power bills. The tables only turn when we get a prepaid meter that bills us based on consumption and that is when we start looking at power saving.
Have you considered getting energy-efficient devices, like LED bulbs that lights brighters but use 15W instead of 200W old sulphur vapour bulbs. They will drop your recharge cost even a lot more
0.00 SBD,
0.05 STEEM,
0.05 SP
Thank you sir. Well I haven't considered getting energy-efficient devices, like LED bulbs because I am in my parents house but I will consider getting that when I get back to school.
