Frames of My World: Nature Through My Lens

Behind the noisy mechanical life around us, nature hides its calm and gentle form. The proximity of nature to the rural open environment brings a strange tranquillity to our minds. Ever since I saw the theme of the second week of the Frames of My World: Nature Through My Lens contest, a place I know and love very much floated before my eyes. Today, I will take you to a calm body of water in beautiful Bengal, where the clouds and the shadows of green trees constantly play. This is a traditional, peaceful pond surrounded by natural beauty in my hometown, Bhola.

Nature Through My Lens: Ponds

This natural place is a quiet and green village in Bhola Sadar Thana, an island district in the southern part of Bangladesh, where my father-in-law lives. I think that this pond is a wonderful example of rural nature, a little away from the mechanical noise.

• Place (Ponds): Mal Bari, Kheyaghat Road, Bhola Sadar, Bhola - 8300.
• Travel Date: Since this place is an open natural place, there is no specific opening or closing time. If you go to this pond at any time, the beauty of nature and the peaceful environment will cool your mind.

This place is a special part of me; I have a special attraction towards the pond bank. This pond in my in-laws' house is not just a water body for me; it is a political refuge in search of peace of mind. All my worries disappear in an instant when I come to this pond bank. The calm water that reigns, the beautiful ghatla for ablution and bathing, and the rows of betel nuts, coconuts, and various trees around it make all my problems disappear in the blink of an eye. The smell of earth and softness in the air of this pond cannot be found anywhere else. This is a piece of peace of my own.

Standing on the banks of this pond, a few special natural elements completely captivate the mind:

• Reflection of the soft blue and green of the water:
  The water of the pond is so clear that the surrounding green plants and the rafts of white clouds in the sky float like a mirror on the water. This natural reflection looks amazing.

• Gentle afternoon breeze and kachuripana:
  The floating of kachuripana accumulated in the corners of the pond to the rhythm of the breeze and the gentle waves of the water creates a wonderful scene.

• Crying of birds: Various native birds flock to the trees on the banks of the pond throughout the day. Especially the flight of the Dahuk and the fisherwoman brings this environment to life.

Our Bhola district is an island region surrounded by rivers, canals and greenery. Ponds and water bodies are closely linked to the lifestyle of the people of this region. This pond beautifully portrays the true nature of our rural environment. The surrounding dense betel nut gardens, bamboo groves, the daily work of village women at the pond ghat and the calm water in the afternoon light - all these represent the traditional rural softness of Bhola. Seeing this, one can understand how peaceful and beautiful the villages of Bengal can be.

• This is a beautiful frame of that calm pond on Mal Bari Kheyaghat Road. The clear water of the pond creates a beautiful reflection of the surrounding dense green vegetation, tall palm trees, and cloudy sky. The gentle waves created on the water in the light breeze and the calm environment beautifully portray the true softness of rural nature.

• This is an aesthetic close-up shot of the pond on Mal Bari Kheyaghat Road. The old brick-paved ghat in the foreground of the picture creates an atmosphere of rural culture. The dense branches of the trees overhead and the green shadows of the leaves are beautifully reflected in the calm waters of the pond like a mirror, which brings a cool and calm softness to the entire environment.

• In my opinion, a quiet afternoon of rural life, where every moment of nature seems to stand still. In this picture, we can see a quiet pond, on the surface of which a beautiful reflection or natural mirror, of betel nut trees, coconut trees, and a cloudy sky surrounded by greenery has been created. A small white house on the bank of the pond indicates the presence of people. This enchanting reflection of the water and the quiet environment around it removes all the fatigue of the mind and brings a strange tranquility.

• This is a view of a peaceful, green-clad ancient pond in rural Bengal. The image shows the deep reflection of dense vegetation on the water. But the most intriguing aspect of the image is the reflection of an unknown shape in the middle of the water, which looks almost human. This mysterious form in this natural setting makes the image even more interesting.

• This sun-drenched seating area at the pond ghat is my favorite. The shade of the trees on the calm water on one side and the village's mesmerizing path on the other side create a wonderful scene here. The joy of sitting on this old ghat on a lazy afternoon and swinging your legs, and feeling the cool breeze on your body makes you forget all the fatigue of the day in an instant.

• When the distant calm water peeks out from the gaps between the dense bamboo groves and betel trees on the banks of the pond, the scene is very beautiful to see. This shady environment of dry branches lying on the ground and lime-washed trees has a genuine touch of rural nature. Standing here on a lazy afternoon, it reminds me of the familiar days of childhood.

• Looking from this corner of the pond, it feels like we have entered an unknown forest. The tree trunks and dense bushes standing right in front of us beautifully protect the pond. When the eyes get tired of looking at the brick and stone walls of the city, the touch of such lush greenery near the house brings a different kind of freshness to the mind.

• A peaceful and serene image of rural Bengal. The picture shows a beautiful pond, the clear water of which beautifully reflects the dense green vegetation surrounding it. The calm ripples of the water and the glint of the sun on the leaves of the trees create a peaceful atmosphere. This beautiful image of nature removes all the fatigue from our minds.

• I tried to present the pond as a unique sacred place in this frame. Some are refreshing themselves by taking a bath, while others are cleansing their inner dirt by performing ablution. In my opinion, a pond is a place of self-purification.

• This is just such a frame that the familiar appearance of our village houses comes to mind when you stand on the pond. A small dirt road of white dust passes right above the dense green bushes next to the quiet pond on the right. Looking at the blue house and the rows of lime-washed trees on the other side of the road, I feel that nature and human life are somehow intertwined here. While walking along this road on a lazy afternoon, the cool breeze from the pond hits your body and instantly calms your mind—this feeling is impossible to find anywhere in an artificial city.

Conclusion

This pond in my in-laws' house area is not only a source of beauty but also of immense ecological importance. Since the pond is next to a mosque, the Muslim community in the area regularly performs ablution and bathes. In my opinion, this pond helps maintain groundwater levels and protect surrounding biodiversity. It is the only haven for birds, small insects, and aquatic plants in the village. Culturally, this pond is a place of rural interaction. It is a pond that is very old, and at different times of the day, people from the village come here to bathe together and talk, which is a big part of our rural culture. I tried to capture the beautiful environment and natural scenes from different angles of this pond in my camera frame, and this was my arrangement today.
