Shapla Chattar and our culture

Dear steamian friends,

There are many historical sculptures in the capital, Dhaka. Among all these sculptures, the sculpture that is most spoken of by everyone is Shapla Chattar. Shapla Chattar is located in Motijheel. This area is mainly a commercial area. The head offices of Bangladesh Bank and almost all banks are usually located in this area. Not only that, the corporate offices of many big organizations are located around Shapla Chattar.

The shapla flower is our national flower. A sculpture of Shapla flower is made in a lot of space. It is also a traffic circle. Shapla Chattar represents the history and culture of this country. Many emotions and many tears are in this Shapla Chattar. During the 1971 War of Independence, there was a mass grave here where our brothers, sisters, parents, and grandparents were brutally killed and buried.
Shapla Chattar is also a part of our culture. Our state television presents this Shapla Chattar as part of its culture before starting various daily programs.
The color of the Shapla flower is white, which is a sign of purity, a sign of peace, a sign of good health. The structure here is also white, which can be seen from a distance. At night, when the water fountain is released in the light of the lights, it expresses its incomparable beauty.
Shapla Chattar is not just a sculpture; it is also a gathering place for people. Visitors from different parts of the country come to visit this Shapla Chattar. Various meetings and gatherings are held here from time to time, and opinions are exchanged. This creates harmony and brotherhood among people.
Our heartbreaking incident was born from such a gathering. A heartbreaking incident took place in 2013, for which the then-government was controversial. Still, Shapla Chattar is a sculpture of our love; it is a part of our culture.
The place of Shapla Chattar has been kept within a boundary. So that no one can destroy the historical place. This Shapla Chattar has witnessed a lot of history and many events. Maybe it will witness many more epoch-making events. At the same time, I wish that its value will increase further as a part of the national culture.
