I also prefer large, sturdy dogs... But to be fair to Chihuahuas: they were originally fighters. Courageous, robust and persistent, they were actually working dogs. Humans, with their eccentric and reckless ideas, have turned them into unhealthy, ugly and useless toys.
Which they did with most dogs, and makes me wonder. How come there's still no dog able to walk up stairs and stay healthy? To me a dog still should have a purpose, guard and come along instead of biting ankles and making noise 24/7 but I guess to some (many?) that's no issue.
