It looks like a shiny day and that boat not very good to cross an ocean with. Now I am more curious about the one who owned it or better the one who used it, than the sea.
Perhaps the sea had it with humans disturbing it's peace and littering or who knows those who tried do 't have the right skills.
The title and end make your story a good and intriguing one.
I often get unique story-related questions. It's good to take ideas for more details to add in future. But, sometimes, it didn't cross my mind at the time of writing the story. lol
