Battery

in CCC10 hours ago

I’ve been feeling rather exhausted of late. Let’s just say my battery is pretty much flat and not just mine. It turns out that the car I bought years ago , back then already had a battery that was seven years old. So I’m now assuming that all the problems with that car were caused by a battery that was no longer up to scratch. Strangely enough, I did have that battery tested once, and I was told it was fine. Now I have my doubts about that test too.
What I didn’t know is that every battery has a code; this can be found on top of the battery and is often stamped into it. This code stands for the factory where the battery was made, the year and the month.
I’ve decided to buy a new battery. It remains to be seen whether I’ll have my car inspected again and be able to drive it; so I want to test first with a new battery whether this is even possible after all these years of inactivity. If not, the car will be sold and the new battery will be fitted to another car, also one with a battery that has exceeded its recommended number of years. It also isn't and isn’t particularly strong.

For the time being, the Exide battery is still in the kitchen after I picked it up today. I hope that this weekend the 13-year-old Bosch battery will be removed from the car. If the car runs without any problems, the next step is a compressor. If it comes to the compressor I should have bought it years ago. That would have saved me quite a few trips to the petrol station to pump up the tyres.
Incidentally, petrol stations are becoming scarce and there are now only two places in the village where tyres can be pumped up. One is at a petrol station and the other option is the tyre specialist.

I sincerely hope the car works (I’ve got quite a bit to move) and, besides, it may well be that if flights stop, I’ll really need the car. Although getting petrol might well become a problem too.

Yes, it is a bit too much, all the repairements, the gardening and all I want is to sit in the sun (no sun) and paint.
