RE: Comment contest: Comment affairs #49; A mistake that taught you an important lesson.

in Ladies Universeyesterday

Greetings.

A mistake that taught you an important lesson. Tell us about it.

Although the mistake wasn't mine, it serves as a lesson that teaches us we shouldn't make mistakes that could be fatal.

Disobedience was the mistake, compounded by alcohol. A cousin of mine recently passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident because she went to a gathering with her partner, but he went in the car and she on the motorcycle. The first mistake was that they didn’t both go in one of the two vehicles.

Then, when they were returning from the gathering they had attended, my cousin’s partner decided to go back because he wasn’t feeling well—he had a flu-like illness—and told my cousin they should turn back. She said no, that she would leave later. That was the fatal mistake, because if they had come together, each in their own vehicle, she should have gone back too; he didn’t insist.

When she decided to turn back, a little later in the early morning, she had consumed some alcohol. Almost as she was reaching her home, the accident occurred, and she died at the scene.

What does this tell us? That we must not disobey; we must heed the signs.

Let’s heed them, and we won’t have accidents. Also, if you’re going to drive, don’t drink.
