14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.”
James 3:14,16 (NKJV)

There are things that limit greatness, things that hamper progress.
Inability to walk in love is one of the major blockers of destiny. Strife can short-circuit the move of God in your life.
Thus, the admonition is; wish other people well, do not be a part to the downfall of someone. In other words, do not team up with evil doers to cause another person’s downfall:
10 MY SON, IF SINNERS ENTICE YOU, DO NOT CONSENT. 11 IF THEY SAY, “COME WITH US, LET US LIE IN WAIT TO SHED BLOOD; LET US LURK SECRETLY FOR THE INNOCENT WITHOUT CAUSE; 15 MY SON, DO NOT WALK IN THE WAY WITH THEM, KEEP YOUR FOOT FROM THEIR PATH; 16 FOR THEIR FEET RUN TO EVIL, AND THEY MAKE HASTE TO SHED BLOOD" (Proverbs 1:10,11,15,16 NKJV).
Whatever you do is a seed which will germinate, grow and bear fruit for harvest (Galatians 6:7). Therefore you need to be circumspect and cautious about what you sow—what you do to others.
The seed you sow will determine your harvest, and the harvest is always greater than the seed sown: "EVEN AS I HAVE SEEN, THOSE WHO PLOW INIQUITY AND SOW TROUBLE REAP THE SAME" (Job 4:8 NKJV).

“HE WHO SOWS INJUSTICE WILL REAP [a harvest of] TROUBLE, AND THE ROD OF HIS WRATH [with which he oppresses others] WILL FAIL.”
Proverbs 22:8 (Amp.)

I have seen people who planned and executed evil for others, but what they did eventually produce evil in their lives also.
Note:
• What you sow today, you reap tomorrow: “DO NOT BE DECEIVED, GOD IS NOT MOCKED; FOR WHATEVER A MAN SOWS, THAT HE WILL ALSO REAP" (Galatians 6:7 NKJV).
• The law of sowing and reaping is one of the cardinal laws which if you put in place, that is, you put into effect. When you sow a blessing, it will lead to harvest of joy or fulfilment, whilst if any evil thing is sown, it will lead to harvest of regret or sorrow.
• Sowing and reaping is a law, it always works if you set it in motion, whether consciously or unconsciously, it will produce results: “WHILE THE EARTH REMAINS, SEEDTIME AND HARVEST, COLD AND HEAT, WINTER AND SUMMER, AND DAY AND NIGHT SHALL NOT CEASE" (Genesis 8:22 NKJV).
• The good you do will later produce results for you, and likewise the evil.
Do good because of your descendants, your children and children’s children (1 Chronicles 5:1).

God is retributive:
8 BUT TO THOSE WHO ARE SELF-SEEKING AND DO NOT OBEY THE TRUTH, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,
9 TRIBULATION AND ANGUISH, ON EVERY SOUL OF MAN WHO DOES EVIL, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;
10 BUT GLORY, HONOUR, AND PEACE TO EVERYONE WHO WORKS WHAT IS GOOD, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
11 FOR THERE IS NO PARTIALITY WITH GOD.”
Romans 2:8-11 (NKJV)

You will not regret at the end of your journey on earth in Jesus’ name.

Peace!
