"The Lesson I Learned The Hard Way"

How open are you to learning, are you teachable?

I am very open to learning and willing to being taught. I believe it makes me a better person every time I humble myself to learn from others.

The most exciting thing I have come to realize about being teachable is the fact that I don't only learn in classrooms, seminars or any other formal setting, I also learn from daily activities, from people older than me and even my younger one.

The message is not always directed to me but I do consider it; especially messages from children, which one might look down on, can be really beneficial. I love to learn from everyone and everywhere: movies, people, places, nature and others.

What is that lesson you learned the hard way

It used to be hard for me to accept that most of my view were not right. I make rules and policies without thinking about how they would hurt others, either directly or indirectly.

At some point something happened that really affected those rules and policies I made. I had to change how I see things now, though it was not easy but I had to learn the hard way.

I learned that while making decisions, it should involve other people, even if I have never met them before. Considering others view on things can help soften situations and make life favourable for me and them.

Yes it does. Learning the hard way makes me stay calm and think before I conclude on any choice I made. Now I make decisions only after carefully considering the outcome and the challenges that might come with what I have decided. I have seen that rushing to make decisions without thinking about how it affects others often create discomfort for me and others.

That one experience that affected my policies badly is what makes me open up to learn from everyone and everything around me. From people; older ones that have been through a lot and more experience in life than me, also from young ones with their intellectual reasoning and even my daily moments. Movies too helps me understand life in ways I won' t had the chance to explore. Nature plays it's part too to teach me.

All of these has made me a better and happier person because I no longer assume I know it all. I now keep my heart open to the opinions of others.
