New blockchain code
The changes to the blockchain code resulting from Proposal #98 are now live.
As you can see, my witness node is now running with the code from my new branch 0.23.2. Prebuild container are available on my dockerhub.
The full and account history nodes will follow shortly.

Ei, warum sehe ich deinen Post erst jetzt? Komisch, mein Feed wäre eigentlich überschaubar, da hab ich wohl geschlafen...
Du bist aktuell der Einzige mit 0.23.2 - oh halt, da ist noch @yasu.witness der auch schon up to date ist.
Verstehe ich das richtig: "Seed nodes (p2p mode) can run with as little as 4GB of memory with a 24 GB state file." - d.h. man käme mit insgesamt 30GB um den Dreh hin? Wobei, was macht man dann damit - außer zusehen wie Blöcke produziert werden?
Die Umstellung von Yasu war mir dann entgangen. Obwohl er mittlerweile wohl wieder zur Version 0.23.1 gewechselt hat.
Hm, wohl kaum. Jedenfalls, wenn du nicht nur den RAM meintest. Die
block_logDatei allein hat ja schon fast 400 GB. Ohne diese Datei könnte es allerdings fast hinkommen. Hab jetzt nicht nachgeschaut.Beim Seed ohne aktiven Zeugen kann man wirklich nur zuschauen, welche Blöcke von anderen produziert werden... und - was der eigentliche Sinn ist - wie die Blöcke an andere Knoten (z. B. RPC) verteilt werden. Wobei man von letzterem nichts wirklich sieht.
Wenn der Seed auch ältere Blöcke liefern soll (z. B. für einen Resync), muss aber dann doch die ganze
block_logvorhanden sein.Es gibt bereits Experimente mit Knoten, die nicht mehr die gesamten Daten enthalten oder in anders komprimierter Form. Einfach um die Serverkosten zu reduzieren. Es ist aber noch nicht massentauglich...
Seeds sind übrigens sehr wichtig für die Stabilität der Chain. Wenn keine Blöcke mehr zwischen den Knoten verteilt werden... dann gibt's nur noch alte Daten... oder gar keine neuen Blöcke.
Ach ja, es gäbe dann auch nichts zu tun für unseren !DUBby 30%. 😁🍀
