WORLD EVIRONMENTAL DAY EVE\RALLY
Eve of World Environment Day - June 5th
Tomorrow is World Environment Day, June 5th. Every year the whole world takes a day to think about the environment, and for us in environmental science, it hits different. Today was the eve, so our faculty was active from morning. We gathered early and did a rally round the whole school. Picking dirt, clearing gutters, talking to students about keeping the campus clean. I took some pictures during the rally but they’re still with me. I’ll post them tomorrow on the actual day. It was stressful and tiring, walking under the sun with trash bags, but it felt right. This is our course, our thing. Doing something real for the environment, not just reading about it in class.
Because of all the rally and prep for tomorrow, they cancelled every lecture in my faculty today. No class, no tests, nothing. I came back to my place around 1pm, dropped my bag and just slept off immediately. I was tired. Woke up later to no books and no notes to read, which felt strange. So I decided to go play football with the guys instead. Running on the field after walking all morning for the rally actually cleared my head. Shouting, chasing the ball, missing shots - that’s how I shake off stress.
After football I didn’t go straight home. I went for a stroll around the square. The sky was dark with heavy clouds, like rain wanted to fall but it held back. Those dark scars in the sky looked beautiful though - aesthetically pleasing, like something God just painted. The air was cool, the ground was fresh, and everything felt calm. That was my whole day. Morning rally for World Environment Day, afternoon football, evening walk under that dark sky. No lectures, no pressure. Just me getting ready for tomorrow, June 5th.
