The Diary Game: When Your Line Has No Light But the Neighbours Do (20/04/2026)

Hello everyone and welcome back to another session of my diary! I am @gideonova and I will be sharing all about what happened to me today. It was a Sunday full of faith, family, and the usual hustle. Let's get into it!

I woke up in the middle of the night — that was when NEPA decided to bring the light. Rather than waste the opportunity I used the time to sit down with my brother and teach him the basics of Microsoft Word on my PC. He needs it for an upcoming exam so I walked him through the fundamentals, making sure he understood enough to work with it independently. When we were done I went back to sleep and didn't open my eyes again until it was already quite late in the morning. 💻

By the time I got up my family had already eaten and even fed the dog. I brushed my teeth and joined them for what remained of the meal. Since I had woken up late we would be doing our Sunday service on Zoom again, so after eating I quickly revised the source material that was going to be covered in the meeting. Right at 9AM we joined the Zoom session and it ran for a full two hours. When the meeting ended I sat down with my mom for Bible study and we went through it together properly. By the time we finished it was already well into the afternoon. 🙏

When hunger arrived in the afternoon I had beans and garri to sort it out. After eating I picked up my phone and started scrolling through Facebook for a while. Then the snack craving hit — I went and grabbed some banana and groundnut and just sat back and enjoyed the combination. Simple, satisfying, and honestly one of the best snack pairings there is. 🥜🍌

After snacking I got back into gaming mode. Then my mom and brother headed out together to collect something from someone not too far away, leaving me alone at home. I just continued gaming and enjoying the peace of having the space to myself.

Then NEPA brought light — for about five seconds. Literally. It flickered on and went straight back off. I looked around and noticed something that made it even more frustrating — the neighbours had light. Everyone else around had power running. Just our line was dark. When we reached out to the electrician about it he said he would come and fix it the following day. Honestly painful is an understatement. 😤

Evening came and my mom and brother arrived back home already aware of the light situation. The decision was immediate — bring out the generator and pump water. So that is exactly what we did. I handled the generator while we pumped, but I had to be careful and strategic about it. Every time I noticed the water level in the well dropping and the pump starting to struggle, I stopped immediately and gave it a one hour break before starting again. During each break I passed the time watching TikTok videos or playing games to keep myself occupied. 💪

While I was managing the pumping in rounds my mom was inside cooking and my brother was outside washing the plates. 🫧

When everything was finally done we cleaned up the whole house properly, I fed my dog his evening meal, and we all came together to eat dinner and close out what had been a full and meaningful Sunday. 🌙

From midnight teaching sessions to Zoom church to generator pumping — today had it all. But through all of it the family stayed together, got things done, and ended the night in peace. That is what Sundays are for. 💛

Happy Sunday to all of you! How was your day? See you next time! 💕
