It sounds like the reason your plants are not doing well has something to do with the soil. Can the soil remain toxic for so long? It probably could. You will have to plant your plants in pots. See if that makes a difference. If it does, then the soil must still be toxic. The soil is too toxic for the plants but not for the weeds. It is strange indeed!

I assume weeds grow everywhere. I also see it on the fields of the farmers. Everywhere weeds but the grain and sunflowers look terrible and are remain short. Grain at times only 10-30 centimetres.

I will see if I plant in pots again. I only did with some strawberry plants. They grow but if ten strawberries it is a lot.

Weeds shouldn't be growing if the ground is toxic. But maybe I am wrong.
