Various Nadi-shots around the town

I was cleaning out my phone the other day in the hopes that it would somehow make it run faster - which it did not - and I stumbled upon a lot of photos of the one and only thing that I regularly take pictures of: Nadi.

Some of them make me feel really happy, like the one above where if I lie down in bed she immediately gravitates towards lying between my legs as close to me as possible. This has always surprised me because Nadi is not a dog that likes cuddles. But I guess there are some times when she is ok with it.

Nadi also doesn't care much for water or getting wet but again, there must be exceptions. At this island in Thailand she just went wild for the ocean and got so dirty. She loved it. I guess when the mood strikes she will go nuts like she did on this day. It was really cute. It was also a very long time ago, it was around 8 years back and when Nadi was a lot younger.

My dog's endless curiosity about anything changing in the house is something that gives me a lot of amusement. These are just some boxes that I have had in the closet for a very long time. A friend of mine was moving house so I got them out, Nadi was very curious about them and sniffed and poked them for a while before I finally took them away.

This last one was taken most recently and it is just a pub down the street from my apartment that I will stop into for a beer during our evening walk. She really likes going in here and sitting on her chair. People that come into the place regularly all know her, I think more people there know her name than they know mine. I'm ok with that. As I get older I become less and less social and Nadi kind of helps break the ice even if I do end up just talking about her all the time. She is one of the topics I know the most about so it is fitting.

I always start to feel a bit sad when I look back at these memories and many more like them because even though I know it is pessimistic, I know the "clock is ticking" on Nadi's life. She will have her 13th birthday this year and the average lifespan for her breed is 12 years. So I worry, perhaps a bit more than I should. We'll continue to take pictures and have a good time until we no longer can do that, of this I am certain.
