1942 Packard Clipper US Army staff car military vehicle for top generals
The 1942 Packard Clipper is one of the most historically significant American luxury vehicles, representing the absolute pinnacle of pre-World War II automotive styling and engineering. It is highly prized by collectors today due to its dramatic design departure and its abrupt, war-terminated production cycle.
Because of their reliability and elite status, a limited run of roughly 200 Clipper models were purchased by the U.S. military to serve as staff cars for high-ranking officers. Notably, both General Dwight D. Eisenhower and General Douglas MacArthur used 1942 Packard Clippers as their personal transport during the war.
Because the production year lasted only a few months, total 1942 Packard production across all configurations was limited to just 6,085 vehicles, making the surviving 1942 Clipper models incredibly rare.
