Did I Join Steemit Too Late?
Many of my friends used to work on Steemit years ago. They spent a lot of time blogging, engaging with other users, and building their accounts. I remember listening to their stories about the platform. Some of them achieved things that looked impressive to me at the time. They built strong connections, improved their writing skills, and earned a decent amount from their efforts.
The funny thing is that they kept telling me to join.
Again and again, they would say, "You should start blogging on Steemit. Give it a try. You are wasting time by waiting."
But I never really took their advice seriously.
At that time, I was busy with other things and did not think much about blockchain blogging. I thought there would always be time later. So while my friends were writing posts, participating in communities, and growing their accounts, I stayed on the sidelines watching.
Today, when I finally started taking Steemit more seriously, I realized something.
The platform is still active, and there are still many dedicated users working hard every day. Communities are organizing contests, witnesses are supporting the blockchain, and newcomers continue to join. However, when I compare today's atmosphere with the stories my friends told me about 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, it feels like a different era.
And honestly, I do not think the difference is only about money.
Many people assume older users miss those years because rewards were better. I do not think that is the complete story.
What I hear most often from experienced users is that there was a different energy on the platform. More people were active. Discussions were longer. New ideas appeared every day. There was excitement because everything felt fresh and full of possibilities.
My friends often tell me stories from those years. They talk about waiting for payouts, checking notifications many times a day, making new friends through comments, and feeling motivated to publish content regularly. For them, Steemit was not just a blogging platform. It felt like a growing movement where everyone was learning together.
Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had listened to them back then.
Maybe I would have built a stronger account.
Maybe I would have formed more friendships.
Maybe I would have experienced the excitement that so many people still talk about today.
Of course, there is no way to know.
One thing I have learned in life is that opportunities often look obvious only after they have passed. When my friends were encouraging me to join, I thought there would always be another chance later. Years went by much faster than I expected.
Still, I do not regret starting now.
Yes, the atmosphere may not be exactly the same as it was during the golden years. Yes, the platform has changed. But every platform evolves over time. The people who continue creating valuable content are the ones who keep a community alive.
Maybe I missed the years that many users consider the most exciting.
Maybe I joined later than I should have.
But I believe there are still opportunities for people who are willing to learn, stay consistent, and contribute something useful.
My friends were right about one thing: the best time to start was years ago.
The second-best time is today.
Congratulations!
