Mining Rig and ASIC Miner
Assalamu Alaikum
The mainstay of cryptocurrency mining is powerful computing hardware. Ordinary computers are no longer enough to solve complex mathematical puzzles on the blockchain network to create new coins and verify transactions. To survive in this competition, miners around the world mainly use two technologies, one of which is Mining Rig and the other is ASIC Miner. Although the purpose of the two hardware is the same, there are major differences in their structure and performance.
A mining rig is basically a custom-made or specially built personal computer, which is composed of multiple powerful graphics cards or GPUs. Where a regular computer has one graphics card, a mining rig has four to eight or more graphics cards connected together. These rigs are mainly used for mining cryptocurrencies like Ethereum Classic, Ravencoin or Monero. The biggest advantage of a mining rig is its versatility or flexibility. If mining a particular coin is not profitable, it can easily be switched to mining other coins by changing the software. In addition, if mining is stopped, the graphics cards inside it can be sold at a good price to ordinary gamers or video editors. However, they take up a lot of space and require a powerful cooling system to keep the house cool.
The full form of ASIC or ASIC is Application-Specific Integrated Circuit. It is not an ordinary computer, but rather a special chip or device that is designed only and only for mining a specific cryptocurrency algorithm. For example, an ASIC miner designed for Bitcoin mining cannot mine any other coin with a different algorithm except Bitcoin, let alone any other work. Due to this single goal, ASIC miners are extremely powerful and fast. They can solve mathematical calculations thousands of times faster than a typical GPU rig and are energy efficient. Currently, mining on large networks like Bitcoin or Litecoin is almost impossible without ASIC miners. However, their main disadvantages are that they are very expensive, noisy, and have no versatile use. That is, when the project is closed, this device becomes a complete scrap or garbage.
In short, mining rigs and ASIC miners solve two different needs of the crypto economy. While mining rigs offer flexibility and versatility for ordinary users and small miners, ASIC miners are the main weapons of large institutional mining firms, ensuring maximum speed and performance. The choice of one of these two hardware is based on the type of crypto market and the budget and objectives of the miners. Today's discussion concludes here. I hope you've found it interesting. Please share your thoughts on today's topic. Prayers for everyone. May everyone be well. Amen.
