My Modest Sunflower Experiment

in Time & Space7 hours ago

Now, I bet this will entertain some of you! :)

This spring I decided to have some fun in the yard by "beatifying " a part of it with decorative sunflowers.

So I bought a small pack of about 50 sunflower seeds and planted them all exactly one month ago.

It required daily watering in the first week but then there was enough rains and I have to say, it's a bit of a miracle watching how those grow each day.

I just need to clean the weeds around the stems now and then, actually I left enough distance between them so I am able to mown the grass with my electric lawnmower ;)

Now their height is more than 1 meter, for some of them.

The idea is to enjoy the blossoms, yes, I can see this is coming soon, and then, in the autumn, pick the seeds to keep some for the next year and feed the wild birds visiting our yard.

I will keep you posted, especially when I see some big beautiful blossoms! :)
