The Diary Game: Preparing African Salad To Satisfy Craving [19/7/2026]
Hello lovely steemians, hope you're all doing great? welcome to my cooking blog
On today's episode I'm going to be lecturing on step by step ways I made African salad, locally called (Abacha). It is proceeded from cassava.
So for a long time I have been craving Abacha because I can't remember the last time I had it. I brought it upon myself today and decided I was going to make it. I made it a goal to achieve today.
So this morning I woke up did my devotion, some chores and headed out to the market to get the things I'll be needing in the preparation of this Abacha
I got to the market bought all the ingredients I'll be needing to cook this delicacy. Got home and then I got the business started.
Ingredients include;
Abacha
Red oil
Ngor
Ugba
Utazi leaf
Crayfish
Fresh fish
Kpomo
Seasoning cube and ogiri
Salt, pepper
Local Nutmeg (ehuru)
Gardenegg
Preparation
First I had to soak the Abacha with warm water, to soften it a bit. Becareful not to let it melt
Then I added little water to the powdered ngor
Then I washed, boiled and fried my fish
After that I added red oil in a bowl , added a little ngor and I stired up together
While stirring you'll notice a change in colour, it's an indicator to add the next ingredients
So I added pepper, crayfish, seasoning cube, salt, nutmeg, ogiri and kpomo to it.
For some of us that don't know what kpomo is. Kpomo is same as beef, it's gotten from the outer skin of a cow. It's basically meat.
After adding them I mixed them up together
Then I added my already soaked Abacha into the pot and stired up as well. I didn't forget to have a taste of it as well to check if there's a balance.
After that I introduced my diced onions, utazu leaf, gardenegg and ugba known as oil bean.
And boom our Abacha was done and ready to serve.
Honestly guys it was really delicious, and a goal come through for me.
My craving was finally satisfied
Let me know if you'll be trying out the recipe of this meal. And also let me know if you've tried it before.
