A Day Without Farmers; What Would Happen?
Imagine waking up one morning to discover that there are no farmers anywhere in the world. What would be your reaction? I have been asking myself such questions since Nigeria started facing her insecurity problems. It is obvious the farmers no longer go to their farms to harvest crops because they won't return home.
Everyone is actually feeling normal and relaxed because we all still see some food to purchase at high rate. So what if the shops are out of stock? What is our faith without the farmers?
Farmers are the foundation of our food system. They are the lead in everything farm, the crops we eat and the animals too... You might say the food processors would keep processing food to sell, but where would they get the crops to process? Without them, the food supply would run out automatically.
Within weeks, supermarkets would begin to run out of fresh produce and prices would rise because supplies would be scarce. It will now be a problem for families because they would struggle to afford basic food items and a lot of people would face hunger in the shortest time. Restaurants, food processing companies, and markets would be forced to close down because they depend on agricultural products to operate.
Agriculture provides raw materials for many industries. The cotton used in clothing, leather used in shoes and bags, and other products used in manufacturing all come from agricultural sources. Without farmers, these industries would suffer intense loss.
The economy would be affected as well. Millions of people around the world depend directly or indirectly on agriculture for their livelihoods. Farm workers, transporters, food vendors, processors, and exporters all play important roles in the agricultural world. If farming stopped, many businesses would collapse, leading to widespread unemployment and economic instability.
Farming is not an easy profession, and judging from the challenges they face, yet they continue to work tirelessly to ensure that food reaches our tables. Despite their importance, farmers often receive less recognition than they deserve. The truth is that farmers are among the most important people in society. They feed nations, support economies, and contribute to the well-being of communities. Without them, life as we know it would be impossible.
A day without farmers would be a day that exposes how dependent humanity is on agriculture. It would teach us to appreciate those who work the land and provide the resources that sustain life. The next time we sit down to enjoy a meal, we should remember that behind every bite is the effort of a farmer whose work helps keep the world alive.

I strongly agree with you ma'am. Farmers are the backbone of human survival in the country. Without them there will be no raw, processed, cotten and even leather materials in the country and every one will starve in one way or the other. Indeed they deserve recognition in our society.
