Amara was a cow residing in a very tiny and tranquil village nestled in a vast expanse of rolling golden hills. Although she wasn't the biggest nor the strongest creature in any of the animals within the village, none could visit the village and be unaware of her. With the first ray of golden sunshine hitting the sky, Amara would meander her way to the field and her way would be eased by the soft soil supporting her.

Amara was yielding more milk than all the cows and the villagers received milk cheese, butter, and yogurt from her. Since Amara's milk was very rich, all children would be born healthy and strong. Farmers received help as well; Amara was not an anxious animal "She is very good to have in the field" the farmer said, "Her being so relaxed helps me relax my thoughts."

When a drought hit the country the second year, plants were breaking and burning, rivers had slowed to nothing, and people became fearful. Animals grew ill and subsequently passed away, but Amara did not even fall ill; only would her milk production decrease. Yet the amount still was substantial enough that people did not go hungry as her milk was distributed amongst the village. Her droppings provided good fertilizer for the cracking soil during the dry hot days and fuel for people when there was a shortage of wood.

The land slowly recovered with effort. Through the terrible circumstances Amara remained unflinching, showing a truly benevolent and caring soul. The villagers all realized then that Amara was no longer just an animal but in fact, an animal with a gift.

After the drought was over and the rains had begun, a feast was thrown for Amara; she was garlanded and people sang songs to her while being well fed. It was then that the lesson: "always love your animals especially the cow because it may bless you more than you expect," began to be passed down through the children.
