Explain in detail the term "Pest Control"

Pest control in agriculture is the process of using different methods to eradicate, manage, or reduce species like insects, fungi, and weeds that can damage our crops from growing on the farm.

This pest control of a thing also affects animals or humans in their environment. Without pest control, our productive output will be low, and if the farmers are not extra careful, it may lead to losses. Different methods like chemicals, biological, cultural, and mechanical are used depending on the choice of the farmers.

For this contest, I would like to discuss three methods of pest control.

• Chemicals serve as the treatment which farmers use to kill insects from attacking their crops.

• Physical methods are used by the farmers, involving the construction of fencing and netting to reduce pests from entering our farm.

• Biological methods involve the use of natural predators in agriculture to manage the population of pests.

➡️Protecting farmers' income: crops without proper management result in massive losses for the farmers, so it's important for farmers to protect their crops from diseases or insects so our agricultural investments can be safeguarded.

*➡️Reduce disease spread: rodents and insects are major problems for crops because they can easily carry diseases that damage our farms. In this case, it is the responsibility of farmers to use one of the pest control methods to prevent their plants from further escalation in their farm fields or affecting our livestock.

➡️Increase our farm yield: pests without proper control have the ability to devastate our crops at harvest. Effective and efficient management must be put in place to ensure greater output.

➡️Food safety and quality: insects carry pathogens that can easily spread. Therefore, our crops need to be properly stored in good facilities that are free from pests so that people can eat healthy food, and it also prevents food waste.
