Experience are the practical lessons gained through our daily involvement and encounter. They can come either in a positive or negative ways, and sometimes can influence our future decision making. We can as well learn from other people's experience which is also good but personal experience gained teaches deeper lessons because it's involved with our emotions and there are consequences.

Do you Agree or Disagree with the statement "Experience is the best Teacher"? Defend your take.

I agree with the statement. People tend to learn faster from their past experiences in life. These experiences can be practical and unforgettable because of the emotional impact they have on us.
Taking advice from people or learning from other people's experience is important but personal experience teaches us deeply and can as well influence our future decisions.

Let me share a story, why I strongly believe that experience is the best teacher. Few years ago, I visited the oil mill market in Port Harcourt, Rivers state and this market only sells on Wednesdays. While I was at the market, something happened, my phone went missing, because I kept it in my pocket. So the thing is, there are guys who are good in picking pockets in that market.

After that experience, whenever I visit that market, I would be cautious of my belongs and my phone as well. This experience has helped me overtime whenever I'm going to that market.

Is learning from mistakes faster or slower than learning from books or mentor? Share with us your thoughts

In my opinion and understanding, it's faster learning from one's mistakes because these lessons stay with us for long that's why experience is the best teacher. But it can also be kind of costly learning from our mistakes because of their consequences. In life I have come to understand that, we shouldn't always wait or fall into learning some things the hardway. The truth is some lessons are better of on books than in reality while some others are better understood when we experience them ourselves.
A better approach is learning from both ways .

How would you balance between learning by experience and listening to someone who has been there.

Learning from our own experiences has it's own advantage as well as listening to someone who has been there. To me, the best approach is applying the both,
▪️Listening to someone who has been there - advice gives direction.
▪️Learning from experience - experience gives wisdom.

I am inviting @mynagold, @chiamakag and @quinnxo to join in the contest.
