What do you understand by Disappointment?

Disappointment is the situation whereby someone feels sad, frustrated, or dissatisfied over something that occurs during the time when things do not happen as hoped or planned.

This reminds me of the saying "every disappointment is a blessing" which means when a person is disappointed it is a blessing for the person. Also, it is an emotional response when our desires or plans aren't fulfilled.

Have you ever been disappointed before? What caused it?

Yes, I have ever been disappointed by my friend whom I once trusted. I told my friend about my issue in life which she went about telling everyone to the point people started mocking me for my issue.

What caused the disappointment was that I shared my personal issue with her and the little issue that we had which she then went about gossiping about me, telling people all kinds of things about me.

Why is it so hard to deal with disappointment?

It is hard to deal with disappointment because;

• It hurts our confidence and self-esteem.

• It makes us feel discouraged, sad, or frustrated.

• It makes us feel a sense of failure or loss.

• It can lead us to doubts or negative thoughts about ourselves.

• Because the emotional pain lasts longer if we dwell on what went wrong.

What can we do to make disappointments less painful?

What we can do to make disappointment less painful is:

• We can accept and acknowledge our feelings without judgment.

• We can maintain realistic expectations to avoid excessive disappointment.

• We can focus on what we can control and let go of what we cannot control.

• By staying positive and looking for new opportunities

• By practising resilience and patience.
