Hello Besties, Hope you’re doing excellently well, So, during my introductory post, (my first day on Steemit) I wrote about me serving my father’s land through the National youth service corps scheme (NYSC) This scheme is a mandatory scheme for every new graduate and is a one year serving scheme.

How the Journey started

Before any graduate is assigned a Primary Place of Assignment, all graduates are expected to camp in the camp they are posted to but before then, there are procedures to follow, from the application process, to receiving your call up number and call up letter to your posted state. For me, I was posted to the Eastern part of Nigeria, Abia state to be precise.

The waiting Period

After my application, I was eager, anxious and curious at the same time, I also felt disappointed too. I applied Batch C2 (November) expecting to get my call up number then, but didn’t get, then I thought I’ll get for the Batch A1 still didn’t receive mine, so I kept hoping to receive my call up number and letter by Batch B2 and luckily for me I received mine. I can’t fully tell how excited, sad and curious I was at the same time, it was a season of mixed feelings. I was happy I got my call up letter, and sad that all I needed to make my stay in camp comfortable wasn’t available at the moment, but I’ve learnt to always trust God and hope for a better future, I was also curious at the same time cause I was wondering how the environment will look like, people, the taste of the food, these and lots more made me curious, but I still went to the camp and I enjoyed every stay.

Camp Life

The day I had to go to the camp, I went to the Akwa Ibom transport company (AKTC) and took a bus to Ummana Bende the Local Government Area where the camp ground is located, when I came down from the bus, I met Uduak, we exchanged pleasantries and we became friends, we connected so fast like we’ve knew each other before then, we did everything together, registered and got our NYSC kits. I was in platoon 4 while Uduak was in platoon 6 and we participated actively in the camp activities.

The Groups

In camp there’s usually different groups, the OBS, First Aid, Man O war, Sanitation, Servicom, Camp police and others. Before I got to camp, I’ve heard about OBS (Orientation Broadcasting Services) they are in charging of all media activities camping in the camp, but I couldn’t cause the accepted numbers was completed, so I went to the First Aid, and I was told they were completed too. During the morning meditation of third day of camp, it was announced that those who want to join the Camp Police should come forward and I went out, became a camp police and contested and won the position of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Camp Police, although I wanted leaving the camp cause of the strenuous activities, joining the camp police made my camp experience fun and I decided to stay till the end of the camp.
