Accelerator Contest Week 129: why are mothers more celebrated than fathers
why do you think women and mothers are more celebrated globally than men? |
|---|
First, a big reason is visibility of sacrifice. Motherhood is very tangible because they have been nurturing us since birth till we become an adult so it is not easy to be caring and selfless that's is why events like mothers day are widely celebrated. Society naturally highlights what it can see and feel strong.
Secondly, there's a historical correction factor. For a long time, women's roles were undervalued due to their background. Celebrating women's today through things like international women's day is partly about recognising contributions that were previously overlooked but today is taken so important because they have been so important for us in our lives today.
Thirdly, women are often culturally associated with emotional bonding and caregiving. Many families express affection more openly toward mothers, while men are sometimes expected to be strong and less expressive. That difference in emotional roles can affect how appreciation is shown publicly but that doesn't mean that men aren't valued just that appreciation for men is often quieter less expensive.
Have you seen any peculiar celebration done in the honour of the men in your country? If yes share with us. |
|---|
Yes, although celebration for men are generally less emphasized than those for women, there are still some meaningful ways men are honoured in my country, Nigeria. One of the most recognised in father's day, which is celebrated every year. On this Day, families show appreciation to fathers for their sacrifices, guidance, and support.
Children may give gifts, write heartfelt messages, or spend quality time with their dads, The community also organize special programs in October where We celebrate men's day. However, compared to celebrations like International Women's Day or Mother’s Day, these events for men are often more subtle and less globally publicized.
Are you satisfied with the men not been celebrated globally and Do you think men should be included? Give your reasons |
|---|
Men are actually celebrated globally, just not always in the same visible or emotional way as women. But I think it needs a bit of balance. Both men and women and women contribute massively to families, communities, and society, so appreciation should be more balanced. Yes, men should absolutely be included because they also sacrifice for us also.
The reason why men should be celebrated also Is because they also carry financial and emotional Responsibilities. Many work under pressure to provide, sometimes without acknowledgment. Celebrating them helps validate those efforts. Men also encoyand support our women a lot. So celebrating men also promote healthy masculinity and leadership. I therefore invite @christabella, @bossj23, and peacemike to participate in the contest.
