Real Life Problem Solving Challenge: Time Management
Time is such a strange thing that we all get 24 hours a day. But how we use these 24 hours determines the success of our work and our family's peace of mind at the end of the day. We often see it around us - when we cannot do something properly, miss an office deadline, or fail to meet a goal, many people easily give an excuse, saying, I didn't have time. However, each person's calculation of time is different. Some people may not have the energy to do anything else before noon if they do something in the morning, while others use every 5 minutes of the day. In fact, the more value they give to time, the more they can control it.

My Time Management
Since I work in a very busy sector like logistics and courier management, every minute of the day is counted for me. A little bit of a slip-up can break the entire delivery chain. Today, I will share with you how I manage my busy office life and loving family together using some of my own strategies and real-life experiences.
1. How do you organize your daily schedule? |
|---|
My morning starts with a specific plan or schedule. In the logistics field, I have to handle hundreds of parcels and track riders every day, so if I go into the field without a specific plan, the whole day becomes chaotic.
When planning my day, I mainly emphasize 3 things, which I have learned from my work experience: purpose, urgency, and consistency. For this, I write down in a notebook every night before going to bed what I need to do the next day in order, keeping track of the time. This simple habit of writing down the next day's tasks before going to bed works like magic to speed up my work and finish the accumulated projects faster. I mainly get 3 major benefits from it:

|---|
Clearness of the day's tasks: After waking up in the morning, all the tasks are in front of my eyes in a serial order. As a result, I can easily understand how my day will go or what I need to do after each task. There is no confusion in my mind.
Joy of completing a task: Whenever a task is completed, and I cross it off the list with a pen, I get a different kind of joy and peace in my mind. This feeling of joy is what motivates me to do the next tasks with more enthusiasm.
Pressure to eliminate laziness: If I write down the tasks, if the task is not done one day, then when I open the diary the next day, it comes to the fore again. In this way, when the same remaining task floats before my eyes day after day, it creates a kind of pressure on my mind, which ultimately forces me to break my laziness and finish the task.

I divide the entire day into 4 main parts according to my diary plan, mentioned below:

Note: Family time basically starts from evening time, but I still mentioned my specific tasks.
2. What is the most important activity in your day that takes up the most of your time and is also essential? With original images. |
|---|
The biggest and most important part of my day is spent at work, i.e. in logistics operations. This office time from 9 am to 6 pm is the most time-consuming part of my life and it is very important for my career.

|---|---|
Every day here, I have to check numerous parcel reports, sales reports, riders' reports and delivery reports. A little time wasted in this work means customer dissatisfaction. However, by taking notes in the diary, I can give all the time I get outside the office to my family. Despite the thousands of pressures of work, the time spent with my family at the end of the day removes all my fatigue.

3. What is the technique that saves you time? |
|---|
I have developed another great habit in logistics and office work that saves me a lot of time. I call it time blocking and doing one thing at a time.
Before, I had to type out assignments and delivery updates to riders one by one every day, which was a huge waste of time. Now I have created some of my own automated formats in Microsoft Excel. I set aside a specific time in the second part of my Rewin office just for this reporting task. During this specific time, I close all other tasks and even turn off all social media notifications. This single-minded focus almost doubles my work speed and leaves no room for mistakes.
4. Have you ever struggled with poor time management? How have you improved it? |
|---|
Not everyone is born perfect, and neither was I. Early in my career, I suffered from extreme laziness and procrastination. I would think, Hey, I have to submit this report by afternoon; now I'll scroll through Facebook or chat.
The result was what it was - by the end of the day, I would have a mountain of work, it was not possible to give parcel updates to clients on time, and getting scolded by my boss became a regular occurrence. This also affected my family life; I would be irritable even when I got home, and I couldn't spend quality time with my family.
To get out of this situation, I decided to maintain a daily work routine and started writing this diary. I started dividing my work into small parts and using the 5-minute rule that is, if a task comes up, if it can be done in less than 5 minutes, I finish it immediately. This small change has given me the confidence to finish the task long before the deadline.
5. What advice would you give to others to manage their time better? |
|---|
- Stop making excuses:
I didn't have timeis a mental trap. Everyone has time, we just need to recognize the necessary work first. - Write it down the night before: Don't waste time scrolling through your phone when you wake up in the morning. Like me, write down in your notebook the night before which tasks you will complete tomorrow on time.
- Give your family time: No matter how stressful your work is, set aside a specific time in your routine after the evening just for your family. This gives you peace of mind.
- Be patient: Not everything will change in a day. Change small habits every day, and big success will come at the end of the day.
