Clay tutorial: making beautiful and realistic platypus using clay art

Hope you all are well. Today I am sharing with you all an easy and interesting way to make a beautiful platypus out of clay. It's a special animal with a duck-like beak and a body like a little creature.I really enjoyed making this craft, and I hope you can do it too.

Equipment used

Brown Air Dry Clay
black clay
White clay
Orange clay
Ball tool or dotting tool
Smooth surface

Step 1: Prepare the body

First, make an oval piece of brown clay. This will be the main body of the platypus.

Step 2: Apply the tail

Now I create a long and flat tail from brown clay and attach it very carefully to the top of the body so it fits properly and perfectly looks alike.

Step 3: Prepare the legs

Make the base of the front and back legs on both sides with small rounded pieces. After that, make webbed feet from black clay and put them under each leg.

Step 4: Create the body texture

Make small circular marks on the body and tail with the dotting tool. This gives the platypus skin a beautiful texture.

Step 5: Make the eyes

Make two small round circles with white clay and make eyes by placing black dots on them. Then apply them carefully on the face.

Step 6: Apply the beak

Finally, make a wide beak like a duck with orange clay and fold it firmly in front of the face. Now your cute platypus is complete.

My experience

I had a lot of fun and feel pleasure while making this clay craft because the shape of the platypus became clearer with every step.
Particularly after adding the beak and webbed feet, it looked even more beautiful and realistic feel and look.This activity is a great way to boost and increase creativity for both kids and grown-ups.

The result

Platypus is a great project if you are learning clay art. It uses simple shapes and is not too difficult. With a little effort and patience, you too can create a beautiful platypus of your choice.
