SLC31-W1 | THE GREEN JOURNEY | The Art of Observation.

Greetings friends and welcome to this challenge. Where are my nature lovers, join me as we engage with nature.

I love green nature, it so refreshing mentally especially when it’s in a serene environment where you can immerse yourself into the beauty of nature. I love the freshness green environment brings to our atmosphere and the way it cleanses the air is obvious to all.

So for this green journey challenge I visited a park in a university around my neighborhood. It’s located inside the Lagos state university, Akoka, yaba, Lagos state Nigeria. It’s not a full park pers say but it’s more of a green environment where one can say and detox digitally.

So on arrival, I had some moments of peace as instructed. About fifteen means of digital
Detox without my phone. We stay on our phone most of the time that we don’t know the blessings of just enjoying nature without its distractions.

After my detox, I observed the environment Keely and everything seemed normal but of course I am not here for the normal. There were green grasses here everywhere there but I had to look for things that we don’t ordinarily notice.

The first thing I noticed around an edge was there has been a cluster of weeds gathered around a flower but my heart went out to those weeds because they were obviously under attack.

Something, an organism obviously had been preying on them and you can see their leaves all eaten out at different points. That’s just didn’t feel right.

Looking not far from there were water droplet on some of the leaves of another weed plant. The weeds were looking dusty like things that are tasty and the water droplets on then didn’t match with their dusty looks.

Close by was a lizard resting on the wall. It seemed to have had a busy day and didn’t want anyone to disturb it. It just stood there staring at me while ignoring my presence. I tried to see if it would move at my movements but it surely didn’t have my time. It had decided to move at its time and I was glad to have captured it in the video.

While still on the edges, I noticed some flowers with unusual white spots and red spots on them. Those flowers are familiar and I know that wasn’t how they are naturally. On a closer look, I saw that the red and white spots were paints leftover on them.

Apparently they were painting the rails around the park and the flowers were victims as they got paint droppings on them but it gave them a beautiful look. Just as I was admiring the painted flowers, a bird perched on the roof of a mini house nearly.

I didn’t want to scare it away. It was a bit far from me but I managed to get a video of it resting on the roof and looking here and there.

After that I decided to search for ant movement. I won’t fail to mention that I looked out for very minute details and I wanted to see if there were ants any where around and ofcourse.

I got ant movement on the leaves and was able to capture it on a video too. Meanwhile there was a flower there looking all dusty and would really use some washing from nature. It looked deserted and in need of care.

Just as I was about to leave, a heard a nearby tree singing as it danced gracefully to the movement of the wind. I captured it on the video too. Well, the dry leaves on the concrete floor wasn’t left out, they were making rustling sound on the concrete as the wind drove them along and I was able to capture a moment of it in the video too.

And there too was this small beautiful sun flower which I snapped. It seem to add a beauty to the environment. It’s amazing how much is around us and we don’t get to noticed them except we take a little pause and observe.

I had a great time out with nature and observing my environment.

Final words

Nature does not demand our attention, it offers itself quietly to us. In its stillness, in places over looked and in the small movements is a world unfolding. We just need to slow down enough to see it.
