A Heavenly Retreat Among the Green Meadows
A few days ago, it was Eid, and all of my friends had returned home for the occasion. Some of them are working while others are still pursuing their studies, so we usually remain busy with our own responsibilities and rarely get enough time to spend together. Since it was Eid, everyone was home, and we enjoyed the few holidays together.
After all the Eid-related activities were over, we finally got a chance to meet up and plan a trip. From the morning until noon, we discussed visiting Yousmarg, a nearby tourist destination. However, due to some unexpected commitments, our plan was delayed. Around 2 PM, we called each other again and decided to visit a place called Doba, located near Yousmarg.
Since I own a vehicle that is capable of handling mountain roads, I took it out and called my friends. Everyone gathered in front of my house, and we set off on our journey. I also carried a bat and a ball with me, hoping we might get a chance to play some cricket along the way.
After driving for some time, we stopped at a shop and bought a few things that we thought would be useful during the trip. We then continued our journey and eventually reached a village situated high on a hillside. At first, we accidentally took a different route and headed in the wrong direction. After exploring that side for a while, we felt it wasn’t as appealing as we had hoped, so we decided to continue climbing further up the mountain.
As we moved ahead, we came across a leaking water pipeline. The flowing water had soaked the muddy road, making it extremely difficult and risky to drive on. We decided to park the vehicle safely on the side and continue the rest of the journey on foot.
We began hiking uphill and eventually reached a wonderfully peaceful spot. The silence there was remarkable. We spent some time relaxing and enjoying the calm surroundings. My friends who smoke had a cigarette, while the rest of us enjoyed some cold drinks and chips that we had brought along. We also played cricket for a while and had a great time.
Since there was still plenty of daylight left, we thought, “Why not continue all the way to Yousmarg?” At first, we had no idea how far it was from where we were, but we made up our minds that we would reach it no matter what. Eventually, after walking for quite some time, we finally arrived.
The views we witnessed along the way and upon reaching there were simply breathtaking. Vast green meadows stretched across the landscape, while sheep, goats, and other animals grazed peacefully. Many of these animals are brought there by villagers from nearby areas. To me, it felt like the perfect escape from the noise and chaos of everyday life.
Whenever a person sits in such a place and connects with nature, the feeling is truly indescribable. It feels as though one is being reborn, completely detoxifying the mind and soul. The fresh, pollution-free air, the lush green grass spread across the ground like a natural carpet, and the softness beneath our feet created an atmosphere that felt almost heavenly. Walking on that velvety grass was an experience in itself.
We had never spent so much time in that area before, but this visit left a deep impression on me. Even as I write this post, I can still feel that place calling me back. I find myself eagerly waiting for the next holiday or Sunday, wondering when I will get another opportunity to return.
Later, we also visited the main Yousmarg area, where many people had gathered because of the Eid holidays. Families and groups of friends were enjoying their time outdoors. We met several people, had tea, and spent some time exploring different spots. Yet, despite all that, the quiet place near Doba remained my favorite location of the entire trip.
On our way back, we stopped at the same peaceful spot once again. We relaxed there for a while and even played another game of cricket before returning home. The entire day felt like a dream, and I still miss that place dearly.
InshaAllah, I will return there within the next few weeks because I have truly fallen in love with its beauty and tranquility.
I have also shared a few photographs from the trip so that all of you can get a glimpse of this wonderful place. We are fortunate to have such beautiful natural locations around us where people can spend quality time away from noise, pollution, and the pressures of modern life.
Thank you.
