Humanoid police robot TH00 on the streets of China.

A metal agent almost 1.75 cm tall, equipped with advanced sensors, capable of analyzing crowds in real time and executing combat movements. The future of urban patrol began to gain space on the streets. In Shenzhen, China, police units began using the TH00 humanoid on public safety patrol missions. Developed by the startup China Engine AI TH00, it has a robust structure built from aircraft-grade aluminum.

The robot weighs approximately 75 kg and uses an Nvidia Orient processor as a command center for all its artificial intelligence tasks, allowing much of the processing to be executed locally without constantly relying on external connections, its architecture was designed specifically for persistent surveillance operations. It combines depth cameras, Intel Real Sense, high-speed visual sensors, microphones and a 360º head-mounted lidar system.

Depending on the configuration, its joints offer between 24 and 41 degrees of freedom and one of the most impressive elements is the mechanical waist capable of rotating up to 320º, this allows the system to instantly change the direction of the cameras and monitor threats located behind the robots without having to reposition the entire body. To maintain long patrol periods, the TH00 uses solid-state batteries that provide autonomy of between 4 and 5 hours, but the real objective of the machine is in its practical functions.

Operating autonomously, but under human supervision, the robot transmits information in real time to command centers, allowing instant cross-referencing of data for facial recognition in crowded areas. The system is also used to locate disoriented elderly or missing children in dense urban environments. Furthermore, thanks to its natural language models, TH00 is capable of communicating Mandarin and Cantonese, offering information and guidance to citizens and tourists on the streets of Shenzhen.

Before reaching the security forces, the humanoid attracted attention on social networks during a demonstration in which it launched a powerful front kick at the company's own CEO to test the capacity of its actuators. This rapid transition from laboratories to urban patrolling, however, raised international debates about the ethical limits of using semi-autonomous systems in public safety functions.
