They Detected Particles Coming Out of “Nothing”.

Scientists at Brookhaven National Lab observed for the first time particles emerging directly from what must have been absolute vacuum, yes, from nothing. The experiment was carried out inside one of the most advanced particle accelerators in the world, where protons are collided at very high energies.

But what caught the attention were not the particles generated by the collision itself, but those that appeared outside of it, particles that do not come from protons, but from empty space itself. According to the most accepted theory in physics, the so-called “vacuum” is not really “vacuum”, it is in constant activity with small fluctuations where particles appear and disappear in fractions of a second.

Until now the above was just theory, what scientists managed to observe something different, these particles did not disappear, they became real, measurable, with mass and the most impressive thing was how it was identified, when analyzing the behavior of certain particles called hyperons, the researchers noticed a specific pattern in the alignment of their quantum properties. That pattern works like a signature, a kind of fingerprint that reveals where those particles come from.

And in this case everything pointed to an unexpected origin, the vacuum itself, this means that under certain conditions enough energy can transform those invisible fluctuations into real matter and that raises a huge question, if particles can emerge from a vacuum, then the concept of nothing might not exist as we imagine it.

Furthermore, this finding may help answer one of the biggest questions in physics. Where does the mass of the particles come from?
