This is how paper Crates keep Eggs fresh

Eggshells may be fragile but they look solid in our eyes. They aren’t as solid as they seem. In fact, they have tiny holes on them but they don't look like they do. You just can't see them with your naked eyes that's why you think they're that solid.

The holes in the shells actually make transporting them a lot harder, because air will always slip in and out through the holes.

When the eggs are transported from a cooler temperature to a warmer one, condensation will happen on the shell. And the moment condensation happens, germs will have an easier time penetrating the shell. If the bad bacteria gets inside the egg, the egg will spoil a lot quicker than it normally would before using it. This is why we want a barrier or a crate we put them in, that prevents condensation from happening that easily.

Most of the time, eggs will be transported in paper crates. The rough, spongy texture of the paper will absorb the condensation. If we were to use plastic crates, it will not absorb the water and will just let it sit on the eggs. That'll will eventually block the tiny holes on the shells.

The very design of the crates also prevents water from building up. The uneven high and low designs leave space for air to circulate through the entire crate stack. With that design, heat cannot build up easily too.
