Where the Cliffs Keep Their Secrets

There are places that do not welcome you with warmth. They challenge you first.

The path along the cliffs felt narrower than I remembered, swallowed by wild grass and silence. To my left, the land rose in dark shapes, rough and untamed. To my right, the Atlantic stretched endlessly, breathing against the rocks far below with the patience of something ancient.

Above everything, the sky burned.

Not with fire, not with sunset alone — but with that strange reddish glow that turns familiar places into forgotten worlds. It painted the clouds in soft violence and transformed the coastline into a border between realities.

Walking there, I stopped searching for viewpoints and started listening instead.

The ocean had its own language. The cliffs answered with stillness.

From a distance, these landscapes look peaceful in photographs. Standing there is different. You feel how small you are against volcanic stone carved by centuries of storms. You understand that beauty here was never designed for comfort.

The coast kept unfolding ahead of me, dark and sharp against the glowing horizon, and for a moment it felt as if time had stepped aside.

Some places are visited.

Others stay with you.

And somewhere between the black cliffs and the crimson sky, I realized this coast belonged to the second kind.
