Oggi riporto un paio di notizie.
Una l'avrete letta in rete e riguarda l'incontro che e' avvenuto il 29 maggio in un non ben precisato territorio neutro, vicino alla base illegale di Guantanamo.
Ne ha dato notizia il Minfar in una nota.
A capo delle due delegazioni militari erano presenti per Gli Stati Uniti il generale Donovan capo del comando sud e per Cuba il vice ministro della Far generale di corpo dell'esercito Sotolongo.
Si sono fatti 4 chiacchiere in un momento cosi complicato per l'isola, nel mentre c'era nella base una prova di evaquazione dei civili.

Fra l'altro in rete si parla del fatto che, in caso di attacco militare statunitense, la base potrebbe venire aperta a "rifugiati" che per premiarli della fiducia verrebbero poi usati come scudi umani.
Personalmente capisco il momento storico ma un po' di fastidio quelle foto me lo hanno dato, gli invasi che stringono la mano agli invasori sa tanto di Incas e spagnoli.
Pare che l'incontro sia stato sollecitato da parte americana.

La seconda notizia e' un tantino piu' complessa.
La corte suprema Usa ha riaperto la causa da 440 milioni che alcuni americani di origine cubana hanno intentato contro 4 big delle crociere per i loro scali a Cuba.
Le compagnie erano state, nel 2024, prosciolte ora il caso e riaperto.
Parliamo di Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise e Msc Crociere.
L'accusa per queste compagnie e' di aver usato illegalmente fra il 2016 e il 2019 i moli del terminal passeggeri dell'Avana.

Quei moli erano stati esprorpiati da Fidel dopo il 1959 ma prima avevano dei proprietari.
Tutto fa perno sulla legge Helms-Burton, presidente Clinton, del 1996 che consente a cittadini Usa di fare causa a entita' straniere o nazionali che traggono profitto da beni espropiati dal governo cubano.
Il giudice ha stabilito che la societa' statunitense Havana Docks detiene un legittimo diritto di rivalsa sul terminal che le navi da crociera hanno utilizzato, questo nonostante che la concessione originaria di 99 anni fosse scaduta nel 2004.

Non parliamo ancora di pagamento immediato da parte delle compagnie di corciera ma cancella il proscioglimento e rimanda gli atti ai tribunali federali.
Ai bei tempi del 2016 grazie all'amministrazione Obama nell'ambito di viaggi culturali "people to people" oltre un milione di passeggeri avevano visitato un pezzo di isola sbarcando da quelle navi.
Con la prima elezione di Trump, nel 2019 tutto si era interrotto.
Niente da fare, se possono romprere i coglioni all'isola, in ogni modo, non si tirano mai indietro.

Today I'm reporting a couple of news items.
You may have read one online, and it concerns the meeting that took place on May 29th in an unspecified neutral territory, near the illegal Guantanamo base.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINFAR) announced the news in a statement.
The two military delegations were headed by General Donovan, head of the Southern Command, representing the United States, and by Lieutenant General Sotolongo, Deputy Minister of the Far East, representing Cuba.
They exchanged a few words at such a difficult time for the island, while a civilian evacuation exercise was being conducted at the base.

Among other things, there's talk online that, in the event of a US military attack, the base could be opened to "refugees," who, to reward their trust, would then be used as human shields.
Personally, I understand the historic moment, but those photos bothered me a bit; the invaders shaking hands with the invaders remind me of the Incas and the Spanish.
It appears the meeting was requested by the United States.

The second piece of news is a bit more complex.
The US Supreme Court has reopened the $440 million lawsuit filed by Cuban-Americans against four major cruise lines for their stopovers in Cuba.
The companies were acquitted in 2024, and now the case has been reopened.
We're talking about Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise, and MSC Cruises.
These companies are accused of illegally using the docks of Havana's passenger terminal between 2016 and 2019.

These docks were expropriated by Fidel Castro after 1959, but had previously been owned.
It all hinges on President Clinton's 1996 Helms-Burton Act, which allows US citizens to sue foreign or domestic entities that profit from assets expropriated by the Cuban government.
The judge ruled that the US company Havana Docks has a legitimate right of recourse over the terminal used by the cruise ships, despite the original 99-year concession having expired in 2004.

We're not yet talking about immediate payment from the cruise companies, but he overturned the acquittal and sent the case back to federal court.
In the good old days of 2016, thanks to the Obama administration's "people-to-people" cultural trips, over a million passengers visited a part of the island by disembarking from those ships.
With Trump's first election in 2019, everything came to a halt.
There's no way around it; if they can piss off the island, they'll never back down.
