Enjoying the Rop car ride

Hi friends, During our vacation last week, we visited the Rope car attraction at the Malampuzha Dam in Kerala. It was an incredibly interesting and thrilling experience, and I would like to share my thoughts about it here. The Rope car at Malampuzha Dam glides over the gardens, offering passengers a magnificent aerial view of the lush greenery, as well as the dam itself and its tributary rivers. Essentially, the cable car system connects one hill to another.

This specific tope car service is operated by a company called Udan Khartola. In addition to Malampuzha Dam, they provide similar services at various other locations across India, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Shimla, Karnataka, and Hyderabad. Building upon their proven success in these other regions, they have launched this service here as well and are currently operating it with great success. The ticket price for this ride is 70 rupees per person. Each cabin is designed to accommodate two passengers and features seating arrangements. To ensure safety and prevent passengers from falling out, there is a protective barrier located only at the front of the cabin.

There is also a footrest area provided at the bottom; however, since the cabin is open on the sides, there is a lingering fear—or perhaps an exhilarating apprehension—that one might accidentally fall out. This element of uncertainty adds to the adventure of the experience. We purchased four tickets and occupied two separate cabins; my son and husband sat in one, while my daughter and I sat in the other. As the cabins arrive at the station, passengers disembark while the cable car remains in continuous motion without stopping. This particular aspect of the process was quite a thrill—and, I must admit, rather frightening as well!

Once the car started moving, using a mobile phone felt rather frightening due to the extreme altitude; there was a constant fear that the device might slip and fall. Furthermore, given the precarious nature of the terrain, there was also an underlying anxiety that we ourselves might lose our footing and tumble down. Consequently, we were unable to take many photographs or videos—unlike my husband and son, who were traveling just ahead of us.

We could tell that both of them were thoroughly enjoying this ride. As the car ascended, we were able to take in the views of the Pen Tyre Garden and the dam situated below; it offered us a true "eagle's-eye view." From that vantage point, the dam looked magnificent, and the garden appeared absolutely beautiful—it felt just like the experience of viewing the scenery from an airplane.

After traveling for about two kilometers, they made a U-turn and dropped us off right back at the very spot where we had boarded. This experience was incredibly thrilling and joyful; my children, in particular, thoroughly enjoyed and delighted in it.
