Cousins had a Late night | Last night talk actually
After the gathering of the family members, two cousins stayed in the house to spend some time. It is obvious that most of the members had already left the house and now all was quiet except for the voice of the TV in the living room. Some movie was showing there but the two did not pay any attention to it and continued talking as if they wanted to do so till midnight came.
It was some small talk, at least what they intended. They made jokes, laughed for nothing, talked about anything but those things that might cause serious discussion. But their talk began to get deeper with each passing minute. Soon the conversation was about the previous love stories of each of them. They discussed the problems of moving forward even after letting loved ones go and feeling lonely among other people.
Very soon they talked about their closeness. One of them talked about the awkward feeling of being close to another person and still being afraid of such feeling. Of course, he agreed with the words of his cousin who also said that becoming an adult takes some time but knowing yourself is a completely different story. There were no loud words in their conversation but it sounded very meaningful.
Of course, their talk was mixed with the loud sound of the TV but they really did not pay attention to it. The weather outside was nice too although inside everything changed. Indeed, the atmosphere became more tense because of the talk that had clearly gone far beyond the usual conversation of cousins.
And then one of them said some words in a very passive way as if nothing happened. It was a short phrase said without any emotion and in a low voice. It changed absolutely everything. In reply there was only silence because the other person was speechless.
These words were said without any emotion. They sounded even more terrible because now they sat in the same room and the same house feeling the truth hanging over their heads. Nothing happened but it seemed that nothing else would be able to make them feel safe again. They stayed quiet then sitting in the same room and thinking about the same problem.
Those people did not stop sitting there until the end of the film because their conversation became too awkward. It seemed as though they both felt that their talk had crossed the boundary of closeness. That day would never be remembered because of the movie that they watched. It would be remembered only because of the statement said at 2 A.M.
"Sometimes I wish we were not related"
From cousins this could create confusion forever, if not handled well.
